Is there a car rental at the Port of Miami? Not inside the port — every major agency runs from Miami International Airport or an off-site lot, which means a shuttle, taxi or rideshare before anyone hands you keys. Amped Auto Rentals delivers the car to your cruise terminal instead. We meet you in the terminal pickup area, hand over the keys, and you drive out. Car rates start at $85/day for the Chevrolet Equinox EV, $89 for the Tesla Model 3, $90 for the Nissan Rogue, $95 for the Tesla Model Y and $115 for the 7–8 passenger Nissan Pathfinder. Add a $10/day booking fee and 7.5% Florida sales tax; multi-day discounts apply automatically (5% at 3 days, 10% at 7, 20% at 30). Terminal delivery is $120 flat, or free on rentals of 7 days or more.

Insurance & Protection — Two Ways to Cover Your Rental

Florida law and our own policy require every rental to carry comprehensive and collision coverage. We cannot release a vehicle without it. You choose where that coverage comes from.

MOST RENTERS SAVE HERE
$0 — use your own policy

Your own comprehensive & collision

If your personal auto policy carries comprehensive and collision and extends to rental vehicles, it acts as primary coverage for the whole rental. Nothing extra to buy.

  • Verified through Canopy Connect before delivery — no uploads or email chains
  • Your declarations page must show comprehensive and collision with active dates (the insurance card alone is not enough)
  • The named insured must match the renter on the booking
  • On a 7-day rental this saves roughly $351 versus a protection plan

Your own policy becomes primary, so a claim goes through your insurer and your deductible applies. If your proof does not show both coverages, we will reach out to add a plan before delivery.

NO POLICY? START HERE
$50.13 / day

Bonzah Standard Protection

Rental protection provided by Bonzah and purchased during checkout. Nothing to verify, nothing to upload, no reliance on your personal policy or deductible.

  • Required only if you do not have qualifying comprehensive and collision coverage
  • Added automatically at booking — no separate application
  • Covers the vehicle for the full rental period
  • Coverage terms, limits and exclusions are set by Bonzah — review them before you buy

Adds about $351 to a 7-day rental. If you are sailing for a week and renting for a week, that is worth pricing in the estimator before you book.

🚢 Cruise passengers — sort this out before you sail

Canopy Connect verification needs an internet connection and access to your insurance account. That is easy at home and difficult from a ship at sea. If you are flying in from another state or country, check now whether your policy carries comprehensive and collision that extends to rental vehicles — and whether the named insured matches whoever is renting. If it does not qualify, budget for the Bonzah plan up front rather than finding out on disembarkation morning. Not sure? Call or text (786) 981-1177 before your sailing and we will check with you.

Before You Book — Requirements, Mileage & Cancellation

The things worth knowing before you pay, in plain language. Everything here comes from our Terms & Conditions, which govern in full.

👤 Who can rent

  • Minimum age 21. Renters aged 21–24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge — call us for the exact amount before booking.
  • Valid, unexpired driver's license held throughout the rental period.
  • Identity verified before delivery — license, date of birth and a live photo.
  • The payment card must be one you are legally authorized to use. If it belongs to someone else, both of you are jointly liable for charges.
  • Additional drivers ($25) must be approved by us in writing before the rental.

Sailing with an international party? Out-of-state and international licenses are accepted at our discretion — call (786) 981-1177 to confirm before you book.

🚗 Mileage & where you can drive

  • Every rental includes 300 miles per day. Miles beyond that are billed at the per-mile rate shown at booking.
  • Unlimited mileage is a flat $59 per rental, but it must be added at booking — it cannot be added once the rental starts.
  • The vehicle must stay within Florida. Driving out of state without prior written approval voids all coverage.
  • Operation in Mexico is prohibited under all circumstances.

From PortMiami: Fort Lauderdale is ~30 miles each way, Key West and back is ~330 miles total, and Orlando is ~235 miles each way. The 300-mile daily allowance covers most post-cruise trips comfortably.

⚡ Returning the vehicle

  • Return with the battery at or above the level delivered (minimum 80%). Below 80% is a $35 fee; below 20% is $60.
  • Rather not stop to charge before drop-off? Add Prepaid EV recharge for $40 and pay the return charge up front — just leave at least 30 miles of range.
  • You cover your own charging during the rental. Tesla Supercharger sessions are billed to us and invoiced after the rental ends.
  • All keys, cables, adapters and accessories must come back with the car.

Every vehicle is 100% non-smoking and non-vaping, including cannabis and e-cigarettes. A flat $400 fee applies to any evidence of smoking, with no exceptions.

Port of Miami Car Rental — FAQ

More answers on our full FAQ page and in our Terms & Conditions.

Is there a car rental at the Port of Miami?

There are no rental car counters inside PortMiami. Every major agency operates from Miami International Airport or from off-site lots, which means a shuttle or rideshare before you can collect a vehicle. Amped Auto Rentals solves this by delivering the car directly to your cruise terminal. We meet you in the terminal pickup area with the keys, so you drive away without leaving the port.

Where are the car rental locations near Port of Miami?

The nearest counters are at Miami International Airport, roughly 8 miles west, plus scattered downtown Miami and Brickell branches. All of them require a shuttle, taxi or rideshare from the terminal. We deliver to the terminal itself — so the closest car rental to Port of Miami is wherever your ship docks.

How much does car rental at Port of Miami cost?

Car rates start at $85/day for the Chevrolet Equinox EV, $89 for the Tesla Model 3, $90 for the Nissan Rogue SV, $95 for the Tesla Model Y and $115 for the 7–8 passenger Nissan Pathfinder SV. A $10/day booking fee and 7.5% Florida sales tax are added at checkout, and multi-day discounts apply automatically (5% at 3+ days, 10% at 7+, 20% at 30+). A 7-day Equinox EV is $535.50 for the car, or about $645.66 all-in. Protection is required — $0 with your own comprehensive and collision, otherwise $50.13/day. Terminal delivery is $120 flat, or free on 7+ day rentals. Estimate your exact total →

What is the cheapest car rental at Port of Miami?

The Chevrolet Equinox EV RS at $85/day is our lowest car rate. Over 7 days the 10% multi-day discount brings the car rate to $535.50, about $645.66 all-in once the booking fee and sales tax are added, assuming you use your own comprehensive and collision coverage. Terminal delivery is free at 7 days. The Tesla Model 3 is next at $89/day.

Do I need insurance to rent a car at Port of Miami?

Yes. Every rental must carry comprehensive and collision coverage. If your own auto policy carries both and extends to rental vehicles, it acts as primary coverage and you pay nothing extra — we verify it through Canopy Connect before delivery, and the named insured must match the renter. Otherwise a Bonzah protection plan is $50.13/day, added during booking with nothing to verify. Cruise passengers: check your policy before you sail — verification is far easier on land than at sea. Full protection details →

How many miles are included?

Every rental includes 300 miles per day. Miles beyond that are billed at the per-mile overage rate shown at booking. Unlimited mileage is $59 flat but must be added at booking and cannot be added later. For reference: PortMiami to Key West and back is roughly 330 miles total, and PortMiami to Fort Lauderdale is about 30 miles each way — so the standard allowance covers most post-cruise trips. The vehicle must remain within Florida. Requirements & fees →

Can you deliver a rental car before my cruise departs?

Yes, and we collect it too. If you are driving into Miami before a cruise, keep the car until sailing day, then hand it back to us at the terminal on your way to check-in. No need to park at the port for the length of your voyage or return a vehicle to an airport branch first.

Which PortMiami terminals do you deliver to?

All of them — Terminal A for Royal Caribbean, Terminals B, C, D, E and F, Terminal G, and Terminals J and K for Carnival, MSC, Norwegian, Virgin Voyages and Disney sailings. Tell us your ship and disembarkation date when you book and we confirm the exact meeting point.

What if my ship arrives late?

Give us the ship name when you book and we track its arrival. Cruise schedules slip, so we build a delivery window rather than a fixed time and adjust on the day at no extra charge. Text us at (786) 981-1177 once you clear customs and we confirm where to meet.

How old do you have to be to rent?

The minimum age is 21. Renters aged 21–24 may be subject to a young driver surcharge — call (786) 981-1177 for the exact amount before booking. You will need a valid, unexpired driver's license held throughout the rental, and identity is verified before delivery using your license, date of birth and a live photo. The payment card must be one you are legally authorized to use; if it belongs to someone else, both of you are jointly liable. Additional drivers are $25 and must be approved in writing beforehand. Sailing with an international party? Out-of-state and international licenses are accepted at our discretion — confirm by phone before you sail. All requirements →

What is the cancellation policy?

For direct bookings: cancel 48+ hours before start for a full refund including the delivery fee. 24–48 hours before, you get a refund minus one average day plus 50% of the delivery fee. Under 24 hours, no refund. There is a 15-minute grace period after booking for a full refund, and bookings made within 24 hours of start can be cancelled free within 4 hours. Early returns are refunded for full unused days if approved 24+ hours ahead, minus a $25 admin fee. Cruise delays and itinerary changes are reviewed case by case — tell us as early as you can. Booked through Turo? Turo's policy applies instead. Full schedule →

Do I need to return the car to the Port of Miami?

No. We collect from wherever you finish, anywhere within 50 miles of Miami Gardens. Many cruise passengers disembark at PortMiami, drive to a hotel, the Florida Keys or Fort Lauderdale, and have us pick up from there. One-way inside our delivery zone costs nothing extra.

Can I drop the car at Miami International Airport after my cruise?

Yes. MIA is about 8 miles west of PortMiami and we collect from any of its three covered garages — Ibis (opened December 2025, Concourses H–J), Dolphin (Concourses D–E) and Flamingo (Concourses E–J). Ibis is the only MIA garage with public EV charging, 50 ChargePoint ports on levels 1 to 5 — useful if you want to top up after driving the Keys before you fly home. Tell us your airline and we confirm the garage and level.

Can I rent a car from Port of Miami to Fort Lauderdale airport?

Yes. We deliver to the cruise terminal and collect at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, or anywhere else inside our 50-mile radius. This is a common route for passengers who dock at PortMiami and fly home from FLL. No one-way surcharge inside the delivery zone.
