Book before you sail, send Amped Auto Rentals your cruise line, ship and arrival date, and we confirm an approved handoff location for your sailing. After you clear customs, call or text us and collect the car at that confirmed spot. PortMiami handoffs run 5:00 AM–11:30 PM daily.

Reserve online or by phone before your cruise. Booking ahead gives us time to schedule the handoff, and lets you finish identity and insurance verification while you still have reliable internet.
2. Send Your Cruise Details
Share your cruise line, ship name, arrival date and expected disembarkation time, plus your passenger count, luggage and where you plan to return the car.
3. Receive Your Confirmed Handoff Location
We confirm an approved terminal-area or nearby approved handoff point. Terminal access and procedures can vary by sailing and reservation, so your confirmed spot may not be the terminal curb.
4. Collect the Vehicle After Disembarkation
Once you are through customs with your luggage, call or text (786) 981-1177. We confirm timing and meet you at the confirmed handoff location with the keys.
Can I Return a Rental Car at PortMiami Before My Cruise?
Yes. If your Amped Auto Rentals rental ends on sailing day, we can arrange collection at an approved PortMiami terminal-area or nearby approved return location, subject to terminal access and advance confirmation. You avoid parking a car at the port for the length of your voyage. Delivery and collection are $120 flat under 7 days and free on qualifying rentals of 7 days or longer.
Returning the Car Before Embarkation
Tell us your cruise line, ship and check-in window when you book. We schedule the collection so you can unload your luggage, hand over the keys and continue to check-in. If you started the rental somewhere else — an airport, a hotel, your home or a designated meeting point — the different-return policy applies: A different return location may be arranged when both locations are approved, within Amped Auto Rentals’ qualifying South Florida service area, and confirmed in advance.

What Happens After You Hand the Car Back?
Collection is a scheduled handoff with an Amped team member at the confirmed location. Please do not leave the vehicle unattended at a curb or in a port garage unless we have specifically instructed you to. After the rental closes, applicable toll charges are reconciled through our SunPass account, and the rental is settled under our Terms & Conditions.
Do You Need a Rental Car Shuttle at PortMiami?
Not with Amped Auto Rentals. Amped does not operate a traditional rental counter at PortMiami, so there is no branch to travel to after you disembark. Your reservation uses a scheduled handoff at a confirmed, approved location instead.

What Happens if My Cruise Ship Arrives Late?
Contact Amped Auto Rentals as soon as you know your ship is delayed, and again after you clear customs. Because we already have your ship details, we can adjust handoff instructions when arrival schedules change. Any adjustment stays within our 5:00 AM–11:30 PM handoff hours and depends on operational availability, so the earlier we hear from you, the more options there are.
- Give us your ship name when you book. It lets us follow arrival changes on your sailing day.
- Expect schedules to move. Berthing, disembarkation and customs times can all shift.
- Message us after customs. Call or text (786) 981-1177 once you have your luggage, and we confirm timing and location.
- Plan for the handoff window. Handoffs are not available 24 hours, so a very late arrival may need a revised plan.

Can I Pick Up at PortMiami and Return at Miami International Airport?
Yes, when both locations are approved and the return is confirmed in advance. Amped Auto Rentals does not operate a counter at Miami International Airport (MIA). Instead, we arrange an approved MIA garage handoff based on the reservation, usually matched to your airline so you are close to check-in.
MIA’s parking garages sit next to different parts of the terminal, so tell us your airline and flight time when you book. We confirm the garage, level and meeting details before your return day. Leave enough time to walk from the garage to your check-in counter and through security.
MIA returns fall under our standard delivery-and-collection pricing: $120 flat under 7 days, free on qualifying rentals of 7 days or longer. MIA service is part of our car rental in Miami-Dade coverage.
Can I Pick Up at PortMiami and Return at Fort Lauderdale Airport?
Yes. A different return location may be arranged when both locations are approved, within Amped Auto Rentals’ qualifying South Florida service area, and confirmed in advance. Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) handoffs use the airport’s Rental Car Center; Amped does not have an FLL counter.
Returning at FLL after your cruise
- Drive to the Rental Car Center and enter the Cypress Garage.
- Go to Level 7 and follow the signs to the Peer-to-Peer area.
- Hand the car back to Amped at the confirmed spot.
- Take the Airport Rental Car Center shuttle to your terminal.

How Do Tolls Work After Leaving PortMiami?
Amped Auto Rentals vehicles use SunPass. Applicable toll charges are reconciled after the rental through Amped Auto Rentals’ SunPass account. Amped does not currently sell a toll package.
- No transponder to add. Do not attach a second transponder to the vehicle unless Amped tells you otherwise.
- Expect cashless tolling. Many Miami-area expressways have no cash lanes, so tolls are read electronically as you drive.

Usually tolled: Florida’s Turnpike and its Homestead Extension, the Dolphin Expressway (SR-836) toward MIA, the Airport Expressway (SR-112), the I-95 and Palmetto express lanes, the Rickenbacker Causeway and the Venetian Causeway.
